“Nature”
By: Sydney Miller

The sea is many things – but, alas, the sea cannot see. And therein lies the fault of the sea.
The sky is many things – but, alas, the sky cannot fly. And therein lies the fault of the sky.
The hillside is many things – but, alas, the hillside cannot abide. And therein lies the fault of the hillside.
The stream is many things – but, alas, the stream cannot scheme. And therein lies the fault of the stream.
The flower is many things – but, alas, the flower cannot empower. And therein lies the fault of the flower.
The pebble is many things – but, alas, the pebble cannot rebel. And therein lies the fault of the pebble.
The seed is many things – but, alas, the seed cannot proceed. And therein lies the fault of the seed.
The dirt is many things – but, alas, the dirt cannot assert. And therein lies the fault of the dirt.

But what if, what if –
What if the sea could see? What if the sky could fly?
What if the hillside could abide? What if the stream could scheme?
What if the flower could empower? What if the pebble could rebel?
What if the seed could proceed? What if the dirt could assert?

Then, you must know – Nature would gladly overthrow
Us all.
