There I was, 10 years ago when I found out that it was time for me to attend my first day of school. I started to think about what elementary school would look like. I was a little bit nervous, but ready for school. I believed that it could be fun.

Unfortunately, at every moment, I got more nervous as I approached the big, yellow, bus hearing the engine of the bus, smelling the gas coming out. I started to walk a little slower because I didn’t know if the teacher would like me or if I would make a new friend.

I didn’t want to get on the bus. I wasn’t ready. My feet were planted firmly on the ground.

The bus drove away. But because of that, my mom said that I still had to go to school but since the bus left, she was going to drive me instead. As we walked further away from the bus stop, I still had that nerve in me.

I had more time to think about my first day, and because I missed that bus, I was a little bit calmer.

I got in the car and five minutes later, we were at school. The school looked nice and it was full of students. Finally, as I approached the school doors, my attitude started to change. I wasn’t as nervous as I was before. 5 minutes ago, I was thinking about how horrible it would be. But now I believe that it would be fun. I walked down the hall and I approached the classroom. It was colorful, it smelled like fresh new school supplies, and I saw my classmates talking to each other. Shortly after I sat down at my table, the teacher came and greeted me along with some other classmates.

And ever since then, I’ve learned that elementary school isn’t that awful as I thought because you have a lot of new opportunities to make new friends and learn. But you can’t only apply this idea to elementary school, but new experiences in general, that will help you in life.
